The Police Liaison Office (PLO) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) at the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco was established in 2009. It was created to further strengthen the network of the PNP with other law enforcement counterparts based in the West Coast as well as to enhance the cooperation and to facilitate information sharing on important issues such as terrorism and transnational crime. Another objective is to assist Filipino nationals in the area particularly those who have issues or concerns related to police matters or law enforcement.
The creation of this PLO was initially approved in June 2007. However, due to some administrative and operational requirements, it was formally opened in August 2009 upon the posting of the first Police Liaison Officer, the then Police Senior Superintendent EDWIN T ERNI. After the recall of PSSUPT ERNI, on October 9, 2011, the then Chief of the Foreign Liaison Division, PSSUPT LYNDON G CUBOS assumed the post as Police Liaison Officer until January of 2015. Then the Provincial Director of Ilocos Norte Provincial Police Office, PSSUPT ANTONIO P MENDOZA took over until his untimely demise on March 16, 2017. On October 12, 2017, PSSUPT ERIC E NOBLE took over after his stint as the Provincial Director of Cebu Province Provincial Police Office.
