SAN FRANCISCO, 3 November 2020 – The Philippine Consulate in San Francisco has linked up with The Filipino Channel to reach more Filipino Americans and inform them about the latest updates from the Consulate and travel advisories.
The six (6)-minute video snippets, titled, “Tanong ni ConGen Bensurto,” are available on The Filipino Channel on cable TV, TheTFCkapamilya YouTube Channel youtube.com/watch?v=gs8d2_8bwfY, on TFC’s Facebook: @TFCUSOfficial, TFC’s official website: https://usa.mytfc.com. For its pilot episode launched on 16 October, the “Tanong ni ConGen Bensurto,” discussed the latest travel advisory, specifically on who can enter the Philippines at this time of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
“At this time of the pandemic, the “Tanong ni ConGen” program is our way of reaching out to our kababayans and we thank TFC for helping us reach more Filipinos in the U.S.,” said Consul General Bensurto.
The Tanong ni ConGen Bensurto video snippets were an offshoot of the Consulate’s online discussion program shown on the Consulate’s official Facebook page. A brainchild of Consul General Henry S. Bensurto, Jr., the Tanong ni ConGen online program seeks to answer frequently asked questions of the community. The program is shown through FB Premiere on the Consulate’s official Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/PHinSF/ every Wednesday at 10AM Pacific Time.
In the longer online program on the Consulate’s Facebook page, Consul General Bensurto asks the public’s commonly asked questions to Consular officers and timely issues or questions from resource persons from the Filipino-American community, hence the title: “Tanong ni ConGen.”
It is the Consulate’s way of reaching out to the Filipino American community and update the community with relevant information on consular matters and advisories, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is also a platform for the Consulate to feature the other aspects of its work, including its Spark*Connect* Empower* Movement and SCE Partners, as well as its cultural diplomacy activites. The Consulate aims to reach out to younger generations and inspire them to take pride in their culture and heritage by featuring programs of the Consulate and the Community.
Resource persons from the Philippines, such as government officials and those from the private sector, and Filipino-American community leaders, are invited to talk about their activities and advocacies that could spark interest among the audience on a variety of relevant topics.
